EVENT HISTORY

In 1999, our family decided to host a local triathlon at our property on Lake Erie in Colchester South Township, Ontario. We called it the "Loaring Triathlon", and invited close family members and friends to participate for the love of the sport.

Since then, we have made the race a public affair, and it has grown considerably! With the help of many generous sponsors and dozens of volunteers, our annual event has been a smashing success. The field of participants has ranged from first-timer triathletes, to World Championship qualifiers, Ironman finishers, and Paralympians from the surrounding areas of Ontario and Michigan.

We are again anticipating a large crowd of approximately 500 participants, volunteers, and spectators for the 9th Loaring Triathlon, scheduled for July 17th, 2010. Proceeds will be donated locally to the Elena Loaring Memorial Fund for Breast Cancer Research through the University of Windsor. The race will again take place at our family's property on Lake Erie. We will be contacting the local newspapers, radio, and TV to notify them of our event.
